Stickley

Stickley has made furniture in Upstate New York since 1900 and today also runs a workshop in Archdale, North Carolina. The about page states that over 90% of its products are handcrafted at those two US locations, naming them rather than settling for a country label.

That 90% is not a rounding statement, and the missing tenth is larger than it looks and sits where a buyer would least expect it. Stickley’s product pages carry an Origin field. On the Mission, Harvey Ellis and Origins furniture it reads “Made in Manlius, New York” or “Made in Archdale, North Carolina”. On the Walnut Grove collection — the one Stickley calls its best-selling — it reads “Crafted by Stickley International Ltd. in Vietnam” on 37 of the 48 pieces: the beds, dressers, nightstands, dining tables, bookcases and desks, with only the upholstered seating made in Archdale. Hudson Valley is the same on 21 of 29, Lucerne and Canterbury are imported entire, and the lamps, mirrors and tabletop accents follow. The 44-piece Stickley Designer Rugs range is hand-knotted in Varanasi, India. All of it carries the Stickley name, and nothing on a product page but that one field says which is which.

So this is a split line, and the brand’s mark is Some USA-made products. Every page on the site was read on 2026-10-05: of the 443 that state an origin, 355 name Manlius or Archdale and 88 name Vietnam; 403 state none, and this record does not count those either way. The US-made furniture is carried below with its own marks and evidence — the Bow Arm Morris Chair and the Harvey Ellis Gustav Bed, both “Made in Manlius, New York” on their own pages — and a reader buying Stickley should read the Origin line on the piece in hand rather than take the collection name for it.

Two traps worth naming, because the names invite the wrong guess. “Origins by Stickley” is a US collection made in Manlius. And “Stickley International Ltd.” is not a licensee: it is the company’s own name for its imported line, which is why the imported pieces are unbadged rather than marked.

The 2026-09-20 version of this record said the imported line was accents only and that a Walnut Grove bookcase read Manlius. That was wrong, or has since changed; the entry dated 2026-10-05 says what was read and how.
