Leatherman

Leatherman has designed and built its multi-tools in Portland, Oregon since 1983, and the story page puts the factory front and centre: every tool, from Tim Leatherman’s first prototype to the current range, is built in Portland.

The company’s own governing label, confirmed on its FAQ page, is “Made in the USA - USA & Global Parts” — that qualifier, not a bare country-of-origin claim, is how Leatherman itself describes its product marking. It means final assembly and machining happen at the Portland factory, but the parts going into the tools are a mix of domestic and imported inputs rather than fully domestic content. Under the choose-the-lower rule, that puts this record at assembled-in-usa: US assembly is well documented, but no page found makes an unqualified full-domestic-content Made-in-USA claim for a specific product line.
