Abe Boots is a boot shop in a steel building on a farm road in Monteview, Idaho, forty-five miles north-west of Idaho Falls. It builds heavy lace-up work boots to order — fire and logger boots, packers, and a plain six-inch work boot on the Munson last — and has done since Abraham Roundy took over a custom boot business from Steve and Bev Gilger of Dubois, twenty miles away.
The name is new and the shop is not. It opened as Roundy Boot Shop, became Hidden Boot & Leather when another Roundy turned out to be making boots in Utah, and took the name Abe Boots in 2025. The state seller’s permit for the Monteview address has been in force since January 2015, and a local newspaper reported the move from Dubois at the time. That is why this record carries a domain registered less than a year ago: the domain is young, the business is not.
Abe Boots says its leather comes from American tanneries and names them: S.B. Foot, Seidel, Horween and Law. It does not say where its outsoles and hardware are made, and the soles it names are Vibram’s.
Most of what stands behind this record came from the shop itself, at our request: photographs of the building, the benches, the permit and the clipping. They are reproduced below. The site owner reviewed them and approved the top mark on that basis.
The shop’s own store also sells boot oil, laces and socks from other makers. Those are not covered by this record.
